First Day in Bangkok

What is this strange feeling?  We aren't sitting! We aren't freezing! We're clean!
Well, because our trip was pushed back by the storm, we didn’t have the couple of days we expected to hang out in Bangkok with Greg and Bonnye before we headed out to Isan, the Northeastern area of Thailand.  We spent just a bit under 24 hrs with them- jet lagged like mad (the trip was about 30 hrs and we are now 12 hrs ahead- day is literally night, body time) but beyond excited to be there. And they are such good hosts. Greg picked us up at the airport and brought us back to their apartment (where Bonnye had put out little baskets of treats in each room) to clean up, and then we headed out immediately to the local market for lunch.

Our first Thai meal in Thailand!  Everyone eats street food here, so we weren’t worried (though we had taken the Typhoid pills, just in case).  But now we know why- SO. GOOD.

Then we spent the day trying to get ready for our trip the next morning (Let me assure you that there is nothing more appealing, after 30 hrs of travel, then buying a bus ticket for a 6 hr bus ride the next morning.)
The next morning we were off to Isan, where we didn’t have access to the internet, thus the lack of posts.  But it has been an amazing couple of days, and the hosts of our homestay  gave us in-depth answers to every question we had (and then some!) so there is a lot to share.  I’m going to do a series of posts by topic instead of chronologically.  It will just make more sense that way.
