This is the song-taew that bumped us along
And took us to Twison Beach on Koh Yao Yai.
This is the boat that splashed through the sea
Carrying travelers tired as can be
That brought us to the song-taew that bumped us along
And took us to Twison Beach on Koh Yao Yai.
This is the station, dirty and gross
Where we stood in confusion with our transfer plans toast
Before we got on the mini-bus with the friendly cabbie
That zipped us off to a pier in Krabi
Where we got on the boat that splashed through the sea
Carrying travelers tired as can be
That brought us to the song-taew that bumped us along
And took us to Twison Beach on Koh Yao Yai.
This is to the regular bus which we rode for hours
Gazing out the window at limestone towers
That brought us to the station, dirty and gross
Where we stood in confusion with transfer plans toast
Before we got on the mini-bus with the friendly cabbie
That zipped us off to a pier in Krabi
Where we got on the boat that splashed through the sea
Carrying travelers tired as can be
That brought us to the song-taew that bumped us along
And took us to Twison Beach on Koh Yao Yai.
This is the overnight train, bouncy and fun
That brought us to the mini bus- a crowded one
That brought us to the regular bus which we rode for hours
Gazing out the window at limestone towers
That brought us to the station, dirty and gross
Where we stood in confusion with transfer plans toast
Before we got on the mini-bus with the friendly cabbie
That zipped us off to a pier in Krabi
Where we got on the boat that splashed through the sea
Carrying travelers tired as can be
That brought us to the song-taew that bumped us along
And took us to Twison Beach on Koh Yao Yai.
These are the power lines along the walk
We took through the streets of grand Bangkok
To get to the subway, sleek and clean
Where people are kind, and no one was mean
That brought us to the overnight train, bouncy and fun
That brought us to the mini bus- a crowded one
That brought us to the regular bus which we rode for hours
Gazing out the window at limestone towers
That brought us to the station, dirty and gross
Where we stood in confusion with transfer plans toast
Before we got on the mini-bus with the friendly cabbie
That zipped us off to a pier in Krabi
Where we got on the boat that splashed through the sea
Carrying travelers tired as can be
That brought us to the song-taew that bumped us along
And took us to Twison Beach on Koh Yao Yai.
And that, friends,
is why it took us 21 hrs to get to Koh Yao Yai.
But the rewards of that travel are beyond imagining. This is the paradisiacal Thailand of people’s dreams. It’s beyond description.
Perhaps these photos will do.
